It is the goal of this policy to reflect the views taken by the trustees, staff, students and parents of Small Acres that technology and technological devices will be used sparingly and as means to discover information or as tools to assist children and teachers in developing a project at Small Acres School. We recognise the entertainment value of technology, but we wish to keep Small Acres free of some of the influences which computers and computer games have over children and adults alike. We also realise that computer games, videos and other media will be requested by the children, and we recognise that, within the context of a project, computer games and other forms of entertainment delivered by computer and Internet technologies may be used at Small Acres for a limited and defined period of time.
We do not make this policy lightly, as we do value technology. However, we are aware that children access computer games and entertainment when they are away from Small Acres, and we wish to give them a space where other interests, games and play and interest in nature and the outdoors can flourish.
The purpose of this Policy:
