Enrolment and Fees
Children should be between 5 and 11 years of age in order to attend Small Acres. We do enrol a very few children prior to their fifth birthday, at our discretion. As part of our application procedure, we ask children to attend on a trial basis. At this point, we are not enrolling children over the age of 8 unless they have prior experience of democratic education.
Each family considering enrolment in Small Acres will be asked to attend for a trial period. This is to ensure that this setting suits the child and that Small Acres can meet the needs of the child and the family. Children enrolled in a trial period attend two days per week for two weeks. At the end of the second week, a meeting will be scheduled with the parents to discuss enrolment. At this point, we may wish to extend the trial enrolment, or a child may be offered a conditional place.
We request payment for the two week trial period at the start of the trial.
During the first term, the school or the family may decide that Small Acres is not the right setting for the child and the child can withdraw from the school with one week's notice, all unused fees will be refunded at that time.

Fees for the Term
All fees are to be paid by the start of the term. Fees are non-refundable. If your child is enrolled in a trial period, the fees for that trial period are non-refundable and the remainder of the term fees are due upon acceptance of a place. Following the initial term, we require a term's notice prior to withdrawing your child.
Please attend a meeting for interested parents and read the Policy Information before requesting to schedule a trial.
We recognise that some children will need more time to separate from their parents. We support the family in this process. We will speak with parents on an individual basis as we strive to meet the needs of each child. The time that new parents stay at Small Acres with their child varies and is based on the observations made by the teachers. It is the needs of the child and the children enrolled in the school which are considered when determining when a parent should leave. We ask that parents please be respectful of the needs of the group and consider the recommendations made by the staff when attending the trial.
At Small Acres we follow the term dates set by Southwark Council
